Jól í gamla Klakksvíkshandlinum

Í 2023 fóru Visit North og Norðoya Fornminnafelag í samstarv um eina spennandi jólaverkætlan, saman við framsýningarsniðgevanum Johan Holm Simonsen.

Jólaverkætlanin snýr seg í stuttum um at skapa eina enduruppliving av einum handilshúsi frá trýssunum við handli, apoteki, skrivstovum, stovum, pakkhúsi og siðsøguligum aktiviteti uttandura.

Við hesum átakinum fáa allir borgarir, eldri eins og yngri, ágóðan av einari siðsøguligari livandi framsýning, sum vekir góð minnir hjá eldra ættarliðnum, og stimbrar áhugan og týdningin av einari farnari tíð hjá yngra ættaliðnum.

Til samanberingar kann vísast á den Gamle By í Aarhus, sum letur upp hvønn desembur, sum fólk koma úr øllum heiminum at vitja. Tað finnast bert tvey apotek av hasum slagnum eftir í kongaríkinum, og tað er i Den Gamle By og í Klaksvík.

Christmas in the Old Klaksvík Shop

In 2023, Visit North and Norðoya Fornminnafelag (the Northern Isles Museum Association) entered into a collaboration on an exciting Christmas project together with exhibition designer Johan Holm Simonsen.

The Christmas project is, in short, about recreating a shop building from the 1950s — complete with a store, pharmacy, offices, living rooms, warehouse, and traditional outdoor activities.

Through this initiative, all citizens, both young and old, will benefit from a lively, historical exhibition that awakens fond memories for the older generation and strengthens the interest and appreciation for the past among the younger generation.

For comparison, reference can be made to Den Gamle By in Aarhus, which opens every December and attracts visitors from all over the world. There are only two pharmacies of this kind left in the Kingdom — one in Den Gamle By and the other in Klaksvík.

In December, the weather is often stormy, and therefore this provides a wonderful opportunity for people to step into a warm and cozy environment, where the historical atmosphere leaves a lasting impression on heart and mind — while the Christmas spirit spreads its gentle touch throughout the house.

The living exhibition opens on November 30th, after the Christmas tree in Klaksvík has been lit.
