On Friday, October 4th, the Household School of the Faroe Islands and Matkovin invite you to an inspiring day with the active and pioneering Danish chef, Claus Meyer, in Klaksvík. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Household School of the Faroe Islands, and it has also been 20 years since chefs from the Nordic countries signed the New Nordic Food Manifesto, which greatly ignited the significant interest and respect for local ingredients across the Nordic countries, including in the Faroe Islands.
The day is divided into two parts. The morning session at Varpið (from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM) is intended for those who work daily with food and cooking — whether in restaurants, public or private canteens, educational institutions, care homes, or their own businesses. Claus Meyer will share his practical experiences on organizing sustainable kitchen operations, covering environmental, social, and financial sustainability.
The purpose of the event is to provide Faroese staff with inspiration and tools they can apply at their workplaces across the country.
At 11:30 AM, participants will enjoy a delicious, locally-sourced seasonal lunch, followed by the public afternoon event at Skúlatrøð (1:00 PM – 3:00 PM), where Claus Meyer and Faroese food professionals will discuss the Nordic Food Manifesto. Participation in the afternoon event is free, but registration is required (see the event on atgongumerki.fo).
