Kunoy Forest

Nestled in a peaceful valley on the western side of Kunoy, the village of Kunoy feels like something out of a fairytale. With its cute white houses, colorful rooftops, and winding streets that lead all the way down to the water, it’s a place that looks like it’s been frozen in time. Across the bay, you can see the tall, rocky cliffs of Kalsoy rising from the sea, often covered in snow or shining bright green in the summer.

In the middle of the village stands a bright red church, standing out like a beacon against the beautiful countryside. The best way to explore Kunoy is on foot, where you can wander through the village and follow winding paths that lead to amazing views of golden fields and fluffy sheep. Along the way, you’ll find one of the island’s coolest surprises—Kunoy’s forest!

While most of the Faroe Islands don’t have many trees, Kunoy’s forest is a magical place full of ash, birch, and spruce trees. In the summer, the forest is alive with colors and smells, and the shaded paths are perfect for a little adventure. Follow the trail through the trees, and you’ll reach a huge rock called Eggjarsteinur. It’s a perfect spot for a snack or even a climb! Afterward, the trail takes you through golden grasslands, over a lovely bridge, and back to the village, where you can finish your journey with a smile.
