Nestled in a peaceful valley on the western side of Kunoy, the village of Kunoy feels like something out of a fairytale. With this in mind, its white houses, colourful rooftops, and winding streets create a calm and timeless atmosphere. As you explore, the paths lead gently down towards the water, where the landscape opens up and invites you to slow down and enjoy the surroundings.

Across the bay, you can see the dramatic cliffs of Kalsoy rising from the sea. In winter, they are often covered in snow. Meanwhile, in summer, they turn bright green. As a result, the view changes beautifully with the seasons and offers a new perspective each time you visit.

In the centre of the village stands a striking red church. Here, it creates a strong contrast against the green surroundings. At the same time, it acts as a natural focal point and a perfect starting place for your walk through the village.

The best way to experience Kunoy is by walking. As you move through the village, you pass small houses, open fields, and grazing sheep. Along the way, quiet paths lead you towards scenic viewpoints and peaceful corners of nature. Because of this, the village feels both intimate and closely connected to the surrounding landscape.

One of the most unique features of Kunoy is its forest. Unlike most places in the Faroe Islands, this area offers a rare woodland setting. Here, you will find ash, birch, and spruce trees. During summer, the forest becomes vibrant, filled with colour, birdsong, and fresh scents. In addition, the shaded trails make it a perfect place for a relaxing walk.

If you follow the trail through the trees, you will reach a large rock known as Eggjarsteinur. At this point, it is an ideal place to rest, enjoy a snack, or simply take in the view. Afterwards, the path continues through open grasslands. It then crosses a small bridge before leading you back to the village.
