Meet the locals in the Northern Faroe Islands and get to know Eliana, whose life in the village of Kunoy blends creativity, animals, and a deep connection to nature.
Eliana grew up in Kunoy and has spent most of her life there. In her daily work, she is part of the kitchen team at Skúlatrøð, but her life outside of work is anything but ordinary.
Her home in Kunoy is truly unique. She has transformed her basement apartment into a magical and imaginative space, where she lives surrounded by more than 50 animals. These include everything from exotic species such as snakes, bearded dragons, turtles, frogs, and mice to more familiar Faroese animals. Outside, she also keeps horses, sheep, and rabbits, creating a small and diverse animal world of her own.
On selected days and special occasions, visitors are welcome to experience her unusual home and meet the animals up close. For both children and adults, it offers a rare opportunity to encounter animals they would not normally see in the Faroe Islands.
Eliana’s creativity extends far beyond her home. She also contributes to various events and projects, where she adds her personal touch through set design, costumes, and body makeup. Her artistic skills bring a unique atmosphere to everything she takes part in.
Life in Kunoy is something she values deeply. Surrounded by dramatic mountains and peaceful landscapes, she finds it hard to imagine living anywhere else. The quiet rhythm of village life and the strong connection to nature create a sense of balance and belonging.
For Eliana, Kunoy is not just a place to live — it is a place where creativity, animals, and everyday life come together in a truly special way.
