Paulina is a trained embroidery teacher with a deep passion for the craft. She particularly enjoys embroidery, and beyond teaching, she has published five books on the subject. Originally from Kollafjørður, Paulina has lived in Syðradali for 40 years.
For the past 25 years, she has organized summer workshops on the island, where women from all over the country gather to practice the art of embroidery. This year, six workshops will be held, with a total of 60 women participating in the summer school.
Paulina thrives in Syðradalur. She shares that in order to truly enjoy life on the islands, it's important to embrace the changing seasons — when the island is bustling with life and visitors in the summer, as well as the tranquil, peaceful winters. It’s during the winter months that having a hobby or activity to focus on becomes especially meaningful, she explains.
Paulina feels fortunate to be able to work full-time with embroidery and handicrafts, emphasizing how rewarding it is to create something beautiful and spend time immersed in the craft.
