Svínoy Tent Site – A Remote and Peaceful Camping Experience
Stay close to nature at the tent site on Svínoy, one of the most remote and untouched islands in the Faroe Islands. This campsite offers a simple and authentic outdoor experience, surrounded by dramatic landscapes, open skies, and the quiet rhythm of island life.
Svínoy is known for its peaceful atmosphere and small population, which makes it an ideal destination for travellers looking to disconnect and experience nature in its purest form. As a result, camping here feels both remote and unique.
This is a tent site only, designed for travellers who enjoy a traditional camping experience. The facilities are simple but practical. You have access to a toilet and shower, and the showers are coin-operated (DKK 10).
Please note that kitchen facilities are not available. Therefore, you should bring your own food and supplies. There are no grocery stores on the island, which means planning ahead is essential.
The campsite is open during the main camping season, typically from April to October. During this time, you can enjoy long days, fresh air, and stunning views across the surrounding ocean and mountains.
The island itself offers great opportunities for hiking and exploring. For example, you can walk through open landscapes, visit the small village, or simply enjoy the silence and natural beauty. At the same time, the remote location makes the experience feel calm and undisturbed.
Getting to Svínoy is part of the adventure. You can reach the island by ferry or helicopter, which adds to the sense of travelling somewhere truly special.
Please note that a mandatory sustainability fee of DKK 20 per person (aged 16 and above) per night applies. Faroese legislation requires this fee, and it supports sustainable tourism and local infrastructure.
Overall, the Svínoy tent site offers a simple, peaceful, and nature-focused camping experience. It is perfect for travellers who want to slow down and explore one of the Faroe Islands’ most remote locations.
