This is an authentic full-day experience in the Faroe Islands. First, you begin with a boat tour in one of the most beautiful areas of the Northern Islands. While sailing through dramatic landscapes, you cast your fishing line and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
You depart from the marina in Árnafjørður on Borðoy. Here, you sail in a traditional Faroese boat that represents one of the finest forms of Faroese craftsmanship. As the boat moves along the coast, you see steep cliffs, ravines, and small sea grottoes. Meanwhile, keep an eye out for seals, as this area is part of their natural habitat. Throughout the tour, the crew also protects wildlife and respects the marine environment.
Next, you sail along the coastline of Bergið and cross the fjord toward the headland Lisshøvdi. Then, it is time to cast your fishing line. Several fish species live in these waters. For example, haddock and Atlantic cod often take the bait.
Afterwards, you return to the marina in Árnafjørður. Here, you are invited into a local home. Your host, Kristianna, prepares a wonderful meal and includes your catch of the day in the menu. Meanwhile, you can relax and enjoy the cosy atmosphere of this charming 1950s home. During the meal, Kristianna shares stories about the village and daily life in the Faroe Islands.
After the meal, the experience continues with a guided walk through the village. First, you visit the school from 1904. Here, Kristianna explains the Faroese school system and the role education plays in local communities. Next, you walk to the old grocery shop from 1932. The shop still keeps its historic atmosphere and offers a curious self-service system. Finally, you visit the church from 1937. Inside, Kristianna talks about religion in the Faroe Islands and its connection to the Faroese language.
