Fish & Dine Hvannasund

This is an exclusive full-day experience in the Faroe Islands. First, you head out to sea for angling in one of the most beautiful areas of the Northern Islands. Afterwards, you return to the marina and visit a local home. There, your catch becomes part of a wonderful home-cooked meal.

You depart from the marina in Hvannasund on Viðoy. Here, you sail in a traditional Faroese boat, which represents the finest Faroese craftsmanship. As the boat follows the coastline, you pass dramatic cliffs, ravines, and impressive sea grottoes. Because of the unique landscapes, this area is perfect for photography. During the tour, you will even sail deep into one of the grottoes, a truly remarkable place.

Next, you sail past the village of Viðareiði, which lies on a narrow isthmus between the towering mountains Villingadalsfjall and Malinstindur. Meanwhile, your guide shares local stories that bring the landscape and the village history to life. In addition, keep an eye out for seabirds. Puffins and other seabirds often nest along the cliffs in this area.

Then, you continue further out into the fjord and cast your fishing line. The waters along the Viðoy coastline and near Múlin on Borðoy offer excellent fishing spots. For example, haddock, Atlantic cod, and saithe often take the bait.

Afterwards, you begin sailing back toward the marina. Along the way, you pass the abandoned village of Múli, one of the most remote settlements in the Faroe Islands.

Finally, you return to Hvannasund marina. Here, you are invited into a local home. Your host, Myrna, prepares a delicious meal and uses some of your freshly caught fish as the main ingredient.

During your visit, Myrna shares stories about local traditions and Faroese cuisine. She is both a trained teacher and an authorized travel guide. Because of this, she offers valuable insights into daily life and culture in the Faroe Islands. At the same time, you experience warm Faroese hospitality and enjoy an authentic home-dining experience.
