On this authentic boat tour you sail by magnificent landscapes with seabirds & diverse marine wildlife. You sail in a traditional Faroese boat facilitating mindful exploration.
You sail from the northern marina of Hvannasund on Viðoy. Sailing north you explore the shore of Borðoy towards the remote village of Múli. You continue west along the steep Múli headland before you cross towards the Viðoy island. By the Viðoy shore you sail by spectacular gorges and sea-caves, perfect for photography.
You may see many species of birds including Puffins, Black Guillemot, Fulmar, Eider Duck, Oystercatcher, Blackbacked Seagull, Arctic Tern, Herring Gull, Kittywake, Guillemot, Razorbill & Shag. Seeing and identifying the birds is one thing, but you will also learn about the birds. How do they live? Where do they nest? Where do they find their food? Do they migrate? What are their “personalities”? How have the birds been a resource for the local Faroe Islanders? What are the challenges facing some of the birds in our time?
Keep your eyes open to grey seals as they have the area as their natural habitat. They will usually be seen close to shore by the sea-caves or upon the bedrock when they are resting. What do we know about how do the seals live their lives?
On this excursion you are the explorer getting unique insights into birds, seals and marine wildlife while seeing stunning landscapes. On the tour you will hear local stories from the area.
