For as long as people have lived in the Faroe Islands, they have relied on shore fishing to bring food to the household. The local term “seiðaberg” describes fishing for Saithe from the shore, but also other species are common. It has been said about one of the fiords that we visit, that all you need to survive there, is a fishing rod and a pot to cook your catch in.
On this tour we pick you up in the Tórshavn area and travel by road to visit beautiful locations. On some of the locations by the shore we stop and get our fishing gear ready. Here you have a chance to immerce yourself into sea angling from the dramatic Faroe Island shoreline. If this is your first attempt at sea angling, do not worry, sea-angling from the shore is easy to learn and fun too!
Some of the fish commonly caught from the Faroe Islands shoreline are Saithe, Atlantic cod, Dab, Whiting, Pollock, Haddock, Ling, Tusk and Redfish. One interesting fish is the beautiful “Reyðfiskur”, a variation of the Atlantic Cod that assumes the red colours of it’s seaweed habitat.
Fishing gear provided will be casting rods, lures, tackle and bait.
This tour aims at creating unique Faroe Island memories. Memories of beautiful scenery, sea angling, stories and perhaps a good catch!
