For generations, people in the Faroe Islands have relied on fishing from the shore to provide food for their households. In fact, the local term “seiðaberg” refers to fishing for saithe from land, although many other species can also be caught. Moreover, it is often said that in one of the fjords we visit, all you need to survive is a fishing rod and a pot.
On this tour, you are picked up in the Tórshavn area and travel by road to some of the most scenic locations in the Faroe Islands. Along the way, we stop at selected coastal spots to prepare our fishing gear. At each location, you will experience a different view of the coastline. As a result, the journey becomes both varied and memorable.
Once we arrive, you can fully immerse yourself in sea angling from the dramatic shoreline. If this is your first time, there is no need to worry. In fact, shore fishing is easy to learn. At the same time, it is enjoyable for both beginners and experienced anglers.
Common catches include saithe, Atlantic cod, dab, whiting, pollock, haddock, ling, tusk, and redfish. In addition, one particularly interesting species is reyðfiskur, known for its distinctive red colour. This is because it blends naturally with its seaweed habitat. Therefore, it is both beautiful and unique to observe.
All fishing equipment is provided, including rods, lures, tackle, and bait. This means that you do not need to bring your own gear. Instead, you can focus entirely on enjoying the experience.
Meanwhile, throughout the tour, your guide will share local stories and knowledge. As a result, you gain a deeper understanding of Faroese culture and traditions.
Overall, this tour is designed to create lasting memories. You will experience beautiful landscapes, enjoy peaceful moments by the sea, and take part in a traditional activity. In the end, you may even take home your own catch — making the experience both rewarding and unforgettable.
